So you want to regain or retain your wonderful, supple, clear Pre-Pubescent Skin? Alright, let's get to it.
If you're any bit like my past self, you'd have probably thought of skincare as something akin to rocket science—confusing, and expensive. The more articles you read, the more confused you get. The more products shoved unceremoniously into your face at the store and accompanied with a "you need this, your skin is very/has a lot of _______", the more depressed you get.
I'll be very honest. Skincare is simple to understand, but in practice, it all depends on how much effort you want to put in to get into the habit of going through a proper routine. As far as expense goes, how much one may spend on the maintenance of their skin also varies according to what they need, because everyone has a different type of skin.
Therefore, the most crucial step in caring for your skin is to get to know it.
Get to know it reeeeaaaaaal well. All dirty secrets and quirks included.
A person's skin type is generally determined by how much or how little oil it produces, and a whole range of factors contribute to this, such as: genetics, age, diet, stress and hormonal levels, medication, and even a person's skincare regimen. Fluctuations and changes in these elements can also lead to a change of skin type, which is in fact quite common.
There are 4 universally recognised types of skin: Normal, Oily, Dry and Combination. I, however, find that the word 'normal' is very misleading, because 'normal' means something different to everybody. Similarly, common sense is not as common as you may think, so I'm just going to go out on a limb here and relabel 'Normal' to 'Ideal'.
Now, if you do not already know how, there is an easy way to find out what type of skin you have! First, remove all makeup and dirt from your face, and wash it thoroughly. Then, do not apply any products, just go about your other businesses for the next 1-2 hours (no vigorous activity, please!!), to let your skin settle into it's natural state. Lastly, get in front of a mirror, and take a good hard look at your face for the telltale signs corresponding to your skin type (see below). Once you've successfully identified your skin type, it becomes a cinch to figure out the best skincare products and routines which would keep your skin healthy and blemish-free. Here's a handy and comprehensive chart for your reference:

You see? It's easy enough to understand and figure out how best to treat your skin. Start by identifying your skin type, and then build a routine and diet around it. The hard part is sticking to THAT... But tough it out, aaand voilà! You've got your PPS!
Well, that's it from me today~ Thanks for reading, and click HERE to return to the PPS Master Post for more!
